The tire industry should move similarly to 2022. This is what the projections made by the National Association of the Tire Industry (ANIP) point out. According to the association, total domestic tire sales should increase by just 2% in 2023, from 56.5 million units sold in 2022 to 57.6 million this year.
The association predicts an unstable economic scenario, with projections of a decline in sales of new vehicles and equipment and a drop in the agricultural harvest. These factors should directly impact the light commercial, agricultural and cargo segments, pointing to declines of 3.3%, 9.7% and 6.5%, respectively.
Total sales of light commercial tires are expected to drop from 8.54 million units in 2022 to 8.27 million this year. Agricultural tires ended last year with 896,000 units sold and, for this year, the forecast is for 809,000 units sold.
The cargo sector closed 2022 with 7.48 million units sold and the forecast for this year is 6.99 million tires sold, pointing to a drop of 6.5%.
“We will have another challenging year. National tire sales should show a slight growth, despite all the difficulties to be faced”, analyzes Klaus Curt Müller, executive president of ANIP.

In 2018, the fourth edition of Expoforest had a special attraction: the 1st Forwarder Operators Championship. Large companies in the forest-based sector nominated their best operators for a skill and speed competition. There were 10 participants from companies such as: Sylvamo, Dexco, Eldorado, Suzano and Klabin.
Rodrigo Lemes da Silva, from Klabin, was the big winner of that edition. He says he trained hard for the competition. Although he works more often in harvester operation, he also operates a forwarder when necessary. “Two months before the championship, I started dedicating myself more to operating the forwarder. On average it was two hours a day doing the transfer with this equipment. We made some internal selections at the company and ended up taking first place.”
In that edition, the manufacturer PONSSE offered him, as a prize, a trip to Finland. There he got to know the PONSSE factory and participated in the FinnMETKO forwarder championship, where he took third place.
And now in 2023, who will be the best forwarder operator in Brazil? Registration will open soon for the second edition. Stay connected to our social networks to learn more.

An unprecedented study by Embrapa Florestas (PR) began to measure data on carbon accumulation in timber forest products (PFM). Among them are: lumber, wood panels, paper and cardboard, as well as discarded waste from these materials.
According to Embrapa Florestas researcher Luiz Marcelo Rossi, responsible for coordinating the report on the removal of PFM, the methodology of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-2006) established models, calculations and reference data, such as the density of each wood considered and the carbon content of the products. “Wood is composed of carbon at around 50%, so all PMF, such as a piece of furniture, a book, a board contains carbon that was removed from the atmosphere by the trees. In this way, carbon remains stored in the product until decomposition begins and consequent emission of CO2 after use. Thus, the production and use of PMF is a way to increase the removal of CO2 from the atmosphere, contributing to reducing the effects of climate change”, says Rossi. The contribution of forest products to CO2 removal represents about 13% of the gross emissions of the Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF) sector.
