In 2018, the fourth edition of Expoforest had a special attraction: the 1st Forwarder Operators Championship. Large companies in the forest-based sector nominated their best operators for a skill and speed competition. There were 10 participants from companies such as: Sylvamo, Dexco, Eldorado, Suzano and Klabin.

Rodrigo Lemes da Silva, from Klabin, was the big winner of that edition. He says he trained hard for the competition. Although he works more often in harvester operation, he also operates a forwarder when necessary. “Two months before the championship, I started dedicating myself more to operating the forwarder. On average it was two hours a day doing the transfer with this equipment. We made some internal selections at the company and ended up taking first place.”

In that edition, the manufacturer PONSSE offered him, as a prize, a trip to Finland. There he got to know the PONSSE factory and participated in the FinnMETKO forwarder championship, where he took third place.
