The government of Mato Grosso do Sul projects an expansion of 300 thousand hectares, still in 2023, with areas of eucalyptus planted forests in the state. According to the state government, this volume of wood should meet, in the short term, not only the pulp sector growth as well as energy and furniture.
In a meeting with Governor Eduardo Riedel and with the Secretary for Environment and Development, Jaime Verruck, representatives of the Mato Grosso do Sul state Association of Producers and Consumers of Planted Forests, Reflore MS, addressed the forest sector expansion and the infrastructure, production diversification, livestock-forest integration and carbon neutrality. “Part of the development of the Mato Grosso do Sul also involves this issue of forests. It is from them that will come out the raw material for various undertakings that will ensure our quest for a prosperous state”, said the governor.
The production diversification linked to the wood sector was indicated as an important point in the business expansion within Mato Grosso do Sul. Today, mostly of the wood produced in the state goes to power generatation or pulp production.
