To encourage the production of informative content on planted forests, the Associação Paraná de Empresas de Base Florestal (APRE) launched the APRE Florestas de Jornalismo Award. According to the association, the objective is to encourage quality journalistic coverage related to the planted forest sector in Paraná, to reinforce the importance of the segment for the state’s economy and the social and environmental benefits generated, in addition to recognizing the excellence of the work from the press.
The central theme of the first edition will be “Planted forests: protagonists of the bioeconomy”, involving issues such as sustainability; economic data; importance of the sector; innovation; technology; management; social works; among others.
Press vehicles from all over Brazil will be able to compete, respecting the geographic territorial scope of the prize – reports focused on the state of Paraná, with journalistic articles related to the main theme, produced by one or more professionals, and that have been published/displayed between 1st of January 2023 and October 15, 2023.
The award has three categories: Written reporting (newspapers, magazines, websites, portals and blogs); Audio reporting (productions aired on radio or podcast platforms); and Video reporting (reports broadcast on television stations, websites or video sharing platforms). The first place in each category will receive a prize of R$ 3,000, a certificate and a trophy. The second will receive R$ 1,500, a certificate and a trophy. Finally, the third place will receive a digital book reader, certificate and trophy. There will also be an Honorable Mention offered by Embrapa Florestas to journalistic works that, among those selected, also address issues such as science, scientific research, institutes and universities.
The winners will be announced on November 24, 2023, during the APRE Annual Dinner, which will take place at Maggiore Eventos, in Curitiba (PR). The Association will cover the travel expenses of the finalist, if the professional is from another city.
