NUTRITION AND PHYSIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIES FOR FORESTRY

ICL, a leading global company in specialty minerals, will present at Expoforest 2023 technologies in plant nutrition and physiology that are making a difference in forestry. In a demonstration area of five thousand square meters, dedicated to the planting of eucalyptus and bamboo, the company, which has a team of specialists focused on planted forests and the R&D and market development departments that support demands from foresters, will dynamics with demonstrations of soil and foliar fertilization of forests.

“In the demo area, set up a year ago by our team, with eucalyptus and bamboo forests, we will present ICL’s portfolio focused on the forestry sector, which has been successfully used in all regions of the country. In general, we have proven productivity gains of 5% to 10% per hectare and 10% to 20% in the reduction of forestry costs with our technologies”, comments Edimar Scarpinati, commercial manager of ICL’s Forestry Division. The company will launch, on the occasion, the book of results of the experimental network, which began in 2013 throughout the national territory.

In the dynamics of soil and foliar nutrition applications, which will be presented at Expoforest, the company will address the various possibilities of nutritional management in forests, the correct sequence of use of technologies and equipment, as well as the most recent work carried out with bamboo, also used in the generation of biomass for energy production. “It is a plant that needs a high amount of nitrogen and our gradual release technologies promote balanced nutrition for the crop and reduce operating costs with fertilization”, he explains.

“The success of the forest depends on several technical nuances. The first is genetics and the environment. Then comes the quality of forest management, of which nutrition is one of the main factors responsible for maximizing results: 80% of successful nutritional management comes from correct soil nutrition, and another 20% from foliar nutrition,” concludes Scarpinati .
